When Christmas is Coming
Christmas offers many opportunities, new and traditional, to do things together. This year the local Sheridan Nursery offered an activity for children, Making a Grinch Tree, as part of the Little Diggers Club. Two of my younger grands enjoyed the activity. It was a hands-on job for child and parent, or in my case grandparent. Extra staff were on hand to help where needed and that was good.
Last Saturday was a craft day with my oldest two granddaughters. We made gnomes and birdseed ornaments, the second of which is drying at my home. Some recipes take longer than others to be ready.
The gnome idea came from Christmas Ideas, Better Homes and Gardens. Alas there were no directions or pattern for the hat online so I had to figure it out and have a plan ready when the girls came.
This week, another small fellow in my family helped me decorate our Christmas tree. He was excited to do so and awaits helping to decorate their own tree at home. He also had fun hiding my elf and moose, and of course there were snacks too. Snack attack may be a good phrase. 🙂
Once we have snow, they’ll be busy making snowmen outdoors. At the moment, there is no sign of snow, but a promise for colder weather. It will come soon.
Our family does plan to have a cookie-decorating session as we did last year. Messy fun but the children enjoyed it immensely and had treats to take home.
What special activities do you do when Christmas is coming?
