Encouragement from Nina Spencer
Only a few days ago I was in touch with best-selling author and speaker Nina Spencer after reading an article she recently sent out again. “Lessons from the Freeway and Beyond: Making Space for Grace” seemed fitting for the time we’re in. She begins with a quote from Robert Frost, then gets into her own writing with this first line: “Sometimes you just have to slow down to make space for grace.”
We met at a session for speakers some years ago when she was the guest presenter. We exchanged business cards and chatted a bit that day. Then perhaps a year later, she hired me to edit her second book, A Time To Creep: A Time to Soar:Lessons Learned for Work and Life from Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (2014). We enjoyed a good working relationship, and I felt I got to know her both through the content and our discussions in the editing process. One day I said that I felt that I was climbing “Kili” with her, because she showed that climb so well.
As I often do when I’ve worked with an author, I checked in some months later to inquire how she was doing on her writing. This week was one such time, and it had been awhile since the previous contact. Another warm and friendly conversation followed, via email.
Nina gave me permission to share her article with others to encourage them, and so I share this link with you. Enjoy.
And thank you once again, Nina.
