Where’s summer?

Our editors’ listserv has had a discussion going on what happened to summer. I’m not so partial to hot sticky weather that is our usual fare in south-western Ontario, but I don’t mind having warm weather.

Some like it hot, some like it warm (like me), and others prefer igloos, cold skating arenas and cold lake water. We humans are hard to please. We want sunshine for our picnic or outdoor gatherings, while the farms need rain for their crops and gardeners want rain to water their lawns and gardens, especially when there is a watering restriction, but we want it only at night.

Still this cool weather is unusual. It did get warm enough to wear shorts while I mowed lawn this afternoon, but it’s cool again now. Our grass is getting a bit parched, so do a little dance for rain. We could use some.
