500 words a day for January
Blogger and writer Jeff Goins challenged followers and readers to write 500 words a day for the month of January. I thought, I can do it. It’s fewer words than NaNoWriMo. It can be blogging, another writing project, but not emails.
And so several days ago, I signed up and so far have written in excess of 500 words each day. Not like I’m going to count each word. Thinking what I’m writing about and before I know it, I’m past 500 and upwards to 700. Let’s see what results come of this project. Some of my words indeed will be blogging, but the first days will be on a project I’ve wanted to write for some time.
It’s not too late. Will you join me, and others? And by the way, this isn’t my 500 words for the day. Those are already written.

These exercises tend to work especially when you withstand the urge to skip a day in the first weeks and just keep writing. It reveals a lot of your talent and pushes you to be more creative about your topics. I came across this little project recently http://750words.com/. Although it has slightly different purpose, it provided the initial nudge to get me started.
Thanks, Jay. Will check it out.
