Saturday Snapshot–It’s winter
Small animal tracks in the backyard, likely rabbits, since we see them often. We have snow, just not this deep yet. Then a birdhouse with snow on its roof.
The birdhouse needs a little repair. Someone was casting it off and a neighbour and I found it while walking one day. Things set out on the curb are free for the taking here.

I love to look at the snow, not so much to live with it. We are free to take things from the curb here too. Some people find great things they can recycle. Here’s My Saturday Snapshot
Usually by about late February, I’m ready for the snow to be gone, then I try to wait patiently until spring. As for the birdhouse, it needs some new shingles and a place to set it up in the yard.
And I like your picture too. So peaceful.
What a sweet little bird house. You’re already looking very snowy! We’ve had a few flurries but nothing on the ground yet.
Thanks, Trish. I liked it too. That’s a picture from a year ago. We have snow, but not quite this much yet. It certainly felt like winter yesterday when the snow was falling. The ground is getting a little colder, and that’s when the snow stays.
Growing up in Minnesota, but now living in the sout – I do miss the snow at Christmas. Thank you for the pics.
Come to Canada for a visit in winter and enjoy the snow. 😉 You’re welcome for the pics.
That’s an adorable birdhouse! Who would throw that out? Good find.
Maybe the person who tossed it out doesn’t feel handy to fix things. Who knows? It’s mine now. 🙂
I like seeing tracks in the snow. Great pictures.
The day I took this pic of tracks was just after a big snowfall and I took advantage of the early morning sun and no other tracks or footprints. I was pleased too. Thanks.
Love the birdhouse pic! We are in Central Minnesota and still… no snow. I am in the minority but I am thrilled about this.
You’re just further north in Minnesota. I’m in southwestern Ontario and surrounded by the Great Lakes. You prefer no snow?
I’m envious of the snow – so pretty! We’ve been having really cold weather the past couple of weeks, and if it’s going to be that cold we could at least have some snow to play in.
Thanks, Alyce. Still not enough to make snowmen, but could make snowballs. We’ll have enough for snowmen before long, likely.
I love to walk on the first day of snow and look at the magnificent whiteness everywhere, gaze at the treetops and watch the sprinkles fall down with the whispers of a light breeze .
Amazing what snow can bring to a landscape. Except for blizzards and driving, it can be very pretty. Thank you for your reflections on walking in snow.
Love the snow!! What a cute birdhouse!
Thanks, Vicki. Snow presents some interesting scenes on trees and in yards. Will have to get out this winter and take a bunch of photos of snow in trees and everywhere.
Great wintry photos! We’re getting some snow here in PA today, but it’s not laying yet. Earlier this week it was up in the 60’s…Crazy weather for this time of year!
Our weather has been up and down too, but not it’s a bit more consistent and cold. Thanks!
I love wondering what made tracks in the snow. Here we have what is called bulk trash day and everybody drives around to see what everyone else is throwing away. One man’s trash is definitely another man’s (or woman’s) treasure!
I don’t know many tracks in the snow, but I know rabbit tracks.
Picking up other people’s cast-offs is not my usual thing to do, but that bird house caught my eye.
The older the bird house the better the birds seem to like it. The birds in my yard usually choose the weathered house over the newer ones.
Maybe it feels more natural in an older house with weathered wood, more like the trees they’re used to. Thanks for stopping by.
Nice photos! I love looking at tracks in the snow and trying to identify the owners. We have tons around here.
I love the prints in the snow!! What great winter pictures!!
Thanks for stopping by. Will have to take more snow pictures this winter.
