Snow again–winter as we’ve known it
February 23, 2010.
We’ve gotten off pretty light this year with snow, even as the Olympics across country had to haul in snow for one of its venues. As of yesterday, we’re back to winter weather as we have known it—more like the snow flurries I remember as a child in the country.
The day started out with a light snowfall in the morning, then more and more came down. I had an important errand to do, and sensing that the snow would only increase over the day, I set out just before lunch while traffic was light. The streets had become slick with the new soft snow and the change in temperature. A van pulling into an intersection ahead of me did a sideways slide, then the driver corrected to stay in the lane.
I was glad to be home again, especially when the snow came down more heavily an hour or so later.
Front yards have a clean new white covering. Nice to look out and see it, while sitting indoors where it’s warm and dry.
