Another family wedding to come
Today, my husband and I will be attending an engagement party for our nephew Jay and his finaceé Sarah. That’s right, another family wedding, another happy celebration.
Last weekend, Adam and Paige had their ceremony outdoors after all. The rain stopped and the sun came out. What a blessing, especially when the weather was so unpredictable.
Our family has been having a year of celebrations: a new baby boy born to my niece, Tara, and her partner, Mike, in February, Mom and Dad’s 60th wedding aniversary in June, and Paige and Adam’s wedding just last weekend. Celebrations still to come will be for Dave and Laura’s baby sometime in September and Jay and Sarah’s wedding in October.
Jay, son of Ron and my sister Joan, and Sarah have been making wedding plans for awhile now. Weddings are that way, requiring months of planning and decisions for that one special day. The engaged couple are noting how others celebrate as they make their plans.
Dare we wish for the sun to come out again, two Saturdays in a row in this unusual summer?
Go ahead and wish for it, my heart says. There will be plenty of people in and out of my sister and brother-in-law’s home. Plans are to use the deck as well as indoors. Today we will meet Sarah’s family, then I can say, Sarah, daughter of… .
Do I see the sky brightening ever so little? Maybe not yet. There are still some hours between now and then. My weather-watching husband heard that the weather is supposed to clear, and so I will go ahead and pray for sun for Jay and Sarah too.
